PISE-P: Ikwuano LGA receives foodstuffs, other items, commends FG, Deputy Speaker for initiative

The people of Ikwuano Local Government Area have taken delivery of foodstuffs, wrappers and cash gift donated by the Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives Rt. Hon. Benjamin Kalu through the Peace In South-East Project (PISE-P) as part of moves to restore peace in the Southeast region.


Speaking during the distribution of the items to the 10 electoral wards of Ikwuano LGA at Obuohia Ibere, the immediate past Member that represented the Ikwuano/Umuahia North and South Federal Constituency Hon. Sam Onuigbo, commended the Deputy Speaker for the PISE-P initiative stressing that when the Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives who is also the leader of his party; the All progressives Congress in the South-East, initiated the Project, he (Onuigbo) immediately aligned with it because according to him; peace is the core ingredient in the development of any place.


Onuigbo who serves on the Governing Board of the North-East Development Commission (NEDC) as the southeast Representative noted that as an appointee of president Bola Tinubu, he has an additional responsibility to ensure that there is peace in the South-East adding that the distribution of the food items under the PISE-P aligns with the President’s commitment to ensuring food security in the country.


The NEDC Board Member who doubles as the Chairman of the Committee on Security, Climate Change, and Special Interventions on the Board maintained that hunger, growth and development are all non-partisan including peace stressing that addressing the issue of hunger is the first step in dousing anger and consequently ensuring that violence is reduced and peace upheld.

He further commended the Deputy Speaker, Rt. Hon Kalu for initiating the Peace in Southeast Project as well appreciated President Bola Tinubu stressing that the project wouldn’t have been possible without the blessing and love of the father of the country.

In his remarks Tony Npamah, former APC Chairman Ikwuano Local Government Area eulogized the efforts of the Deputy speaker and his supporters and enjoined the people of IKWUANO to continue to show solidarity to the Government of APC under Bola Tinubu as they expect more dividends of Democracy.


Also, a Community Leader Engr Jack Ikwuano commended the efforts of Onuigbo in ensuring Ikwuano gets their share of the PISE-P food distribution adding that the former Rep member has always played a very important role in ensuring Ikwuano gets her fair share of development from both the local and national levels.


Some of the beneficiaries of the items, Christian Umekwe, from Ibere ward 1, Ann Dennis from Obuohia Obi-Ibere and Comrade Dickson Ajuri, from Usaka ward, thanked the federal government through the Deputy Speaker, House of Representatives, for introducing peace in the South East initiative, noting that the items would greatly benefit their families as they commended Onuigbo for being transparent in the distribution of the items.


The highlight of the event was the distribution of 250 Bags of Rice, 2 Cartons of Power oil, 100 cartons of Spaghetti, 100 pieces of wrapper, 5 Bags of Beans, 5 Bags of Garri and a cash gift of N500,000 across the ten electoral wards of the Local Government.
