The Traditional Ruler of Ugwu-Ibere Autonomous Community Ikwuano, Abia State His Royal Majesty Sir Eze Prof. Ezeudo Ifenwata has appealed to the state government to upgrade the Ibere Comprehensive College to a Polytechnic or return the institution to its former status of Ibere Technical College as the college was founded to function as a Technical College covering a vast area of land mass stressing that the undesirable waste of infrastructure was painful to observe.
Eze Ifenwata who made this known during the celebration of his 24 years on the Throne as the Traditional Ruler of Ugwu-Ibere Autonomous Community at his Palace also maintained that being an Educationist, he is interested in the need to check proliferation of schools and inadequate teaching staff and materials as he commended the recent moves by the state Ministry of Education to sanitize the system by closing down irregular schools.

The Ugwu Ibere Traditional Ruler called for their access roads to be fixed to help farmers move their farm produce from one point to the other in order to boost the economy of the area and Abia state at large.

He seized the opportunity of the occasion to recognize remarkable sons and daughters of Ikwuano who have made impacts in the clan and conferred them with chieftaincy titles. This included High Chief Mgbechi Orji, from Amaoba Oboro, who was conferred with the title of Enyioma I of Ugwu-Ibere; Chief Sunday O. Kalu (Ihe Abatala I of Ugwu-Ibere); Chief Engr. Chukwuma Onwunaruwa (Nnanyerugo II of Ugwu-Ibere); and High Chief Jonathan Enyinnaya (Omenuko I of Ugwu-Ibere).
On his part, Son-in-Law to the Ugwu-Ibere Monarch and Member representing the South-East on the Governing Board of the North-East Development Commission Rep. Sam Onuigbo extolled Eze Ifenwata and pledged to work with the Abia Central Senator Col. Austin Akobundu who was also present at the event to attract government attention to the demands of the Traditional Ruler concerning the autonomous community.

Also Speaking, the Senator representing Abia Central Senatorial Zone Col. Austin Akobundu emphasized that the 24 years on the throne of Eze Ifenwata have been 24 years of uninterrupted peace and development for Ugwu Ibere Autonomous Community.

Senator Akobundu was last year conferred with a Chieftancy title (Ochiagha Ugwu-Ibere) by Eze Ifenwata for his immense contributions to community development and to humanity.
Also in attendance at the event were: the member representing Ikwuano Constituency at the State House of Assembly, Hon. Boniface Isienyi, and Chief Uzodinma C. Okpara, the son of the late illustrious leader, Chief Michael Okpara, among many other dignitaries.
